⏱ 2 min read

James Davis, a 36-year-old from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for distributing child sexual abuse material in Washington DC. The investigation began when an undercover law enforcement officer encountered Davis on a website used to trade child sexual abuse material. Davis used the online screen name ‘Ulphednar’ and exchanged messages with the officer, later sending images depicting the abuse of a minor.

Davis’s crimes came to light on April 11, 2025, when the FBI executed a search warrant at his residence. As agents arrived, Davis attempted to destroy a cellphone containing evidence of the offense. He later waived his Miranda rights and admitted to trading child sexual abuse material online.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI Washington Field Office’s Child Exploitation Task Force, in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI’s Seattle Field Office. Davis pleaded guilty on January 7, 2026, and was sentenced by Judge Amir H. Ali to 10 years of supervised release in addition to his prison term.

Davis’s sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to track down offenders who exploit online anonymity to engage in the abuse of children. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Shinskie.
