Daniel Tocci, a 31-year-old Amherst, Massachusetts man, was sentenced to four years in prison for possessing a staggering collection of over 100,000 child pornography files. The disturbing images, found on Tocci’s laptop and thumb drives, depicted violent and sadistic acts, including the sexual abuse of minors and brutal killings of animals. The search of Tocci’s residence in November 2023 uncovered the enormous cache of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which also included images of bestiality and severed limbs.
Tocci pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in September 2025, and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni. The government had recommended a sentence of 70 months in prison, but Tocci received a four-year sentence, to be followed by five years of supervised release. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The investigation, led by the FBI and assisted by the Amherst Police Department, also revealed Tocci’s Google searches related to child sexual abuse, including queries about countries with legal prostitution under 18. The sheer scale and disturbing nature of Tocci’s child pornography collection make this case a shocking example of the darker side of the internet.
The sentence marks a significant outcome in the ongoing effort to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, and serves as a warning to those who engage in such heinous activities. As part of Project Safe Childhood, law enforcement agencies across the country are working to identify and prosecute individuals who possess and distribute child pornography, and to protect vulnerable children from abuse and exploitation.
