Rochester Man Sentenced to 135 Months for Child Pornography
A Rochester man has been sentenced to 135 months in prison and 30 years supervised release for his role in a child pornography ring, the Grimy Times has learned.
Jason Koscielski, 24, of Rochester, N.Y., was convicted of receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr.
The case began in January 2009 when members of the Toronto Police Service in Toronto, Canada discovered Koscielski was online and sharing images of child pornography through a peer-to-peer file sharing program.
Special Agents with Homeland Security Investigations obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s residence and located more than 200 videos and 1,000 images of child pornography on digital media owned by the defendant.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation on the part of Special Agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the U.S. government.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Marisa J. Miller, who handled the case, stated that the defendant came to the attention of law enforcement and was subsequently brought to justice.
The Grimy Times would like to remind readers that child pornography is a serious crime and those who engage in such activities will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
