A 29-year-old man from Jim Falls, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to 6 years in federal prison for receiving and distributing child pornography. Joshua Dale Cline was arrested after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received tips about his Kik accounts.
Between November 2024 and January 2025, NCMEC received multiple tips about Cline’s Kik accounts being used to send and receive child pornography. On January 27, 2025, an undercover agent received images of child pornography sent by Cline.
When arrested, Cline admitted to using Kik to trade images of child pornography for over a year. The investigation, led by Homeland Security Investigations in Milwaukee and Detroit and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, uncovered Cline’s extensive involvement in the trade.
Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson emphasized the severity of Cline’s crimes, noting the extended time he was involved and the young age of the victims. The judge also highlighted that trading in child pornography encourages the sexual abuse of children by creating a market for such images.
Cline was ordered to pay $38,500 in restitution to the victims and will face 15 years of supervised release after his prison term. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Pfluger as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation.
