RAILING CITY – A relentless operation by the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) has resulted in the arrest of four men charged with attempting to entice minors online. The joint effort, which spanned local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, targeted predators during the 2025 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell hailed the collaboration, stating, “This sophisticated sting operation was a team effort that protected our communities from dangerous sexual predators.” The accused include Elmer Hopper, 36, charged with Attempted Enticement of a Minor Using the Internet; Beau Remington, 23, facing charges of Attempted Enticement and Attempted Transfer of Obscene Material to a Minor; Jayson “Javi” Gomez, 30, also charged with Attempted Enticement of a Minor; and Joshua Michael Allen, 36, accused of the same offense.
South Dakota ICAC Task Force Commander Toby Russell emphasized the importance of such operations, noting that all four suspects are state residents. “This is a sad statistic for our state,” he said. “These investigations are crucial to protect South Dakota\’s children.”
The mandatory minimum penalty for Attempted Enticement of a Minor is 10 years in federal prison, with supervised release ranging from five to life. The cases are part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combatting child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Knox is prosecuting the cases, which are currently under investigation. The suspects, who are presumed innocent until proven guilty, could face significant prison time if convicted.
