PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mark Kriss, a resident of Freedom, Pennsylvania, has been slammed with child exploitation charges after pleading guilty in federal court to downloading and possessing images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.
The 64-year-old’s despicable actions came to light when he was caught contacting a 14-year-old girl over an online adult dating site. On May 22, 2021, Kriss received digital photographs from the young victim that depicted her being sexually exploited.
But it gets worse. Kriss admitted to arranging to meet the minor for sex acts at a local motel. His plea of guilty was entered before Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak on June 25, 2024.
Sentencing is set for October 29, 2024, where Kriss faces up to 20 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both, as per the law’s provisions. Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch is leading the prosecution against him.
The investigation that led to Kriss’s prosecution was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Northern Regional Police Department, showcasing the relentless pursuit of justice in the face of such heinous crimes.
