A 31-year-old woman from Lame Deer, Montana, has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for trafficking a child for sex in Billings. Veronica Clarice Baker pleaded guilty in July 2025 to one count of sex trafficking a minor. The crime occurred in April 2023, when Baker met a man named Dr. Usman Khan on a social media website and arranged a commercial sex date between Khan and an underage girl.
Baker knew the girl, who had occasionally watched her children, and was aware that she was a minor. Despite this, Baker sent Khan pictures of the girl and discussed rates for the commercial sex date. Baker then delivered the girl to Khan’s residence, where he had sex with her. The girl was paid for the encounter and gave some of the money to Baker.
The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zeno Baucus. It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters presided over the case and sentenced Baker to 6 years in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
The sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime and the need to protect children from exploitation. Baker’s actions were a clear example of sex trafficking, and her guilty plea and sentence demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement to holding perpetrators accountable.
