A 39-year-old Pittsburgh resident, James Clark, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for trafficking and sexually exploiting a minor. The crimes occurred in Clark’s Carrick neighborhood residence, where he provided shelter to a female runaway minor in exchange for sex. Clark also produced images of the minor engaging in explicit conduct and trafficked her to another individual for personal gain. The sentencing took place on July 20, 2026, in federal court.

According to court documents, Clark’s crimes were uncovered through a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County Police Department. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Clark was sentenced to 360 months in prison on one count of sex trafficking of a minor and 360 months in prison on six counts of sexual exploitation of children, with the sentences running concurrently. He will also be required to comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

The successful prosecution of Clark was led by Assistant United States Attorney Robert C. Schupansky, with United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commending the investigative efforts of the FBI and local police.
