A man with a history of crime has been sentenced to federal prison for his latest offense: possessing a firearm as a felon.
Chrishawn Lloyd Stuckey, 43, of Birmingham, Alabama, was sentenced to two years in federal prison for the crime, which he committed on February 7, 2025, in Waterloo, Iowa.
Stuckey’s troubles began when he was spotted at a local Wal-Mart, where he was reportedly intoxicated. He left the store and took his car for a spin, driving erratically on the highway, according to reports.
When a law enforcement officer attempted to stop him, Stuckey refused to pull over and instead got onto the highway, leading officers on a high-speed chase. Eventually, they were able to force him to stop using a car maneuver, but not before he crashed into a squad car.
Inside Stuckey’s car, officers found a loaded stolen firearm, which added to the severity of the crime. Stuckey has previous convictions for trafficking in stolen weapons and possession of a firearm by a felon.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Stuckey will serve 24 months in prison, followed by a 3-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities across the United States. PSN was launched on May 26, 2021, with the goal of fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, and setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities.
The case against Stuckey was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Devra T. Hake and investigated by the Waterloo Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Chrishawn Lloyd Stuckey is currently being held in the U.S. Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case file number is 24-CR-2017, and more information can be found on the court’s website at ecf.iand.uscourts.gov.
