Waterloo, IA – Chrishawn Lloyd Stuckey, 43, from Birmingham, Alabama, was today sentenced to two years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon, following a dramatic chase that culminated in a crash with a police car. The sentencing hearing revealed that Stuckey was intoxicated when he left a Wal-Mart in Waterloo on February 7, 2025, and drove erratically, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit.
During the chase, Stuckey refused to pull over and instead attempted to evade law enforcement by driving onto an on-ramp to the highway. Officers were forced to use a car maneuver to stop Stuckey, who then backed into a squad car with his own vehicle, causing damage. A loaded stolen firearm was discovered in Stuckey’s possession.
Stuckey has a history of felony convictions for trafficking in stolen weapons and possession of a firearm by a felon. He appeared before United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams in Cedar Rapids, who sentenced him to 24 months’ imprisonment and an additional three years of supervised release following his prison term. There is no parole available under the federal system.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a comprehensive program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities. The strategy, launched on May 26, 2021, focuses on fostering trust in communities, supporting prevention efforts, strategic law enforcement, and measuring outcomes.
Stuckey is currently being held by the United States Marshal’s Service until he can be transferred to a federal prison. Assistant United States Attorney Devra T. Hake prosecuted the case, with investigations conducted by the Waterloo Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
