Christopher Dean Miers, 33, Sentenced to 84 Months for Distributing Child Pornography in Alabama
In a disturbing case of child exploitation, Christopher Dean Miers, a 33-year-old former United States Marine Corps recruiter from Missouri, has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for distributing and possessing child pornography.
According to court documents, Miers used the internet to access peer-to-peer file sharing networks between February 2019 and April 2019, while living on Fort Rucker, to receive and distribute child pornography. On May 1, 2019, law enforcement obtained a search warrant and found illegal content on his computer, including at least 197 images and 248 videos depicting child porn.
Among the disturbing images found on Miers’ computer were pictures of prepubescent children, as well as sadistic and masochistic images. His actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the well-being and safety of innocent children.
Miers was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 15, 2020, for distribution, receipt, and possession of child pornography. He was arrested the following day and has remained in custody since. He pleaded guilty to all three charges on March 23, 2020.
The United States Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) Major Cybercrime Unit (MCU) investigated this case, with assistance from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). Assistant United States Attorney Hollie Reed prosecuted the case.
Upon his release from prison, Miers will be required to serve five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. This sentence sends a strong message that child exploitation will not be tolerated in our society.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies in combating child exploitation. We must continue to work together to protect our children and bring perpetrators like Miers to justice.
