A Bogalusa man has been convicted of methamphetamine trafficking after a sting operation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
According to court documents, 27-year-old Christopher Harris sold 106 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential source on July 26, 2019. The source had made contact with Harris through a third party, Derrick Mark, who had called Harris to inform him of the purchase.
The sale was part of a larger investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in the Bogalusa area, which was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Bogalusa Police Department.
Harris faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years up to a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years, a fine of up to $5,000,000, at least four years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee per count.
The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney André Jones.
Harris’s guilty plea was entered on November 4, 2021, before U.S. Chief District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown.
The case is part of an effort to combat methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
