Christopher William Stevens, Drug Conspiracy, South Carolina 2023

Drug Lord Sentenced to 11 Years Behind Bars.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – In a major blow to the illicit drug trade, Christopher William Stevens, 35, of Lancaster, has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for his role in a drug conspiracy involving methamphetamine and fentanyl.

According to evidence obtained during the investigation, Stevens was part of a larger drug ring distributing the deadly substances in the area. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations worked tirelessly to dismantle the operation, conducting multiple traffic stops on vehicles driven or occupied by Stevens, which resulted in the seizure of various controlled substances, including suboxone, gabapentin, marijuana, heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.

In addition to the controlled substances, law enforcement also discovered digital scales, glass pipes, and firearms during the traffic stops. On at least two occasions in 2021, agents made controlled purchases of fentanyl directly from Stevens, further implicating him in the conspiracy.

United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis handed down the sentence, imposing a 135-month prison term, followed by a four-year term of court-ordered supervision. It’s a harsh reminder that there is no parole in the federal system.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between Homeland Security Investigations and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon is prosecuting the case.

Stevens’ sentencing serves as a warning to those involved in the drug trade: the Grimy Times will continue to shine a light on those who seek to peddle death and destruction in our communities.
