Chuny Ann Reed, Fentanyl Distribution, Missouri 2022

A St. Louis woman has been indicted for her alleged role in a series of fentanyl overdoses that left at least nine people hospitalized, according to a federal indictment.

Chuny Ann Reed, 46, is charged with distribution of crack cocaine and fentanyl, as well as distribution of cocaine base and fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury to another person, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri announced.

The indictment alleges that Reed sold fentanyl to individuals at a residence in the 4400 block of Forest Park Avenue in St. Louis on February 5, 2022, resulting in the overdoses. At least nine people suffered fentanyl overdoses at the residence that day, according to charging documents.

Reed was arrested on February 7, 2022, after a federal search warrant was executed at her residence. The offense of distribution of cocaine base and fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury to another person is punishable by imprisonment of not less than twenty years.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Reed has not yet entered a plea in the case. The charges against her are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Reed’s indictment is the latest in a series of high-profile cases involving fentanyl distribution in the St. Louis area. Fentanyl is a highly addictive and potent synthetic opioid that has been linked to numerous overdose deaths in the region.
