Two Southwest Ohio relatives were caught red-handed in a massive cocaine trafficking operation that’s yielded over 700 pounds of the deadly drug, with a street value of $5.8 million. Damian Galan, 31, and Diego Galan, 19, were arrested on May 10 after a weekend sting by agents with the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF).
The investigation, which began with a tip, led agents to locations near Columbus where they discovered an additional 244 kilograms of suspected cocaine. In total, the case involves 325 kilograms, or approximately 716 pounds, of narcotics.
The Galans allegedly traveled to Diego’s residence in Fairfield, where they moved storage containers containing cocaine. Law enforcement officials executed search warrants at both Galan residences, finding four kilograms of suspected cocaine, a firearm, and bulk cash at Damian’s home, and 77 kilograms of suspected cocaine, firearms, and methamphetamine at Diego’s residence.
The men are each charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, and face up to life in prison if convicted.
