Recco Roger Collins, Armed Bank Robbery, Albany GA, 2014

Recco Roger Collins, a 45-year-old Albany, Georgia resident, was handed an almost 18-year sentence for his role in a series of armed bank robberies. United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, Michael J. Moore, announced the severe punishment on February 27, 2014.

Collins was sentenced to serve 210 months in federal prison by Judge W. Louis Sands following his guilty plea on November 4, 2013. His actions included driving a getaway vehicle during the PeoplesSouth Bank robbery in Donalsonville and attempting to rob the Citizen’s Bank in Ray City.

The court also ordered Collins to pay restitution for stolen funds and vehicle repairs incurred during the arrest of himself and co-defendants Tony Key and Anthony Facon, as well as medical costs for those affected by their crimes.

“Collins provided the get-away ride for two violent criminals,” said U.S. Attorney Moore. “He put human lives and property at risk, and he deserves his sentence.”

Ricky Maxwell, Acting Special Agent-In-Charge of the FBI Atlanta Field Office, emphasized the impact on victims: “The psychological harm these victims have undergone is immeasurable. We will continue to pursue violent offenders to protect our community.”

The investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and local police departments, with prosecution handled by Assistant United States Attorney Leah E. McEwen.
