GRIMY TIMES – Aurora, Colorado native Isaac Padilla, 23, has been hit with a bombshell of charges including Sexual Contact by Force, Sexual Contact with a Minor, and plain-old Sexual Contact. The federal indictment comes from the United States Attorney’s Office for South Dakota, where it was announced by Randolph J. Seiler.
Padilla, who is accused of having his way with two women, one under the age of 16 and four years younger than himself, has pleaded not guilty to all counts as of March 8th, 2017.
The potential consequences for Padilla are severe. If convicted, he could face up to ten years behind bars and a $250,000 fine, plus lifetime supervision and monetary compensation to the victims through the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Additionally, restitution may be required.
The government’s case is being built on an incident that allegedly occurred on February 25th, 2017. According to the charges, Padilla knowingly sought to violate both women’s bodies, one a juvenile who had not reached her sixteenth birthday.
垫illa is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, where Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller will represent the government in the case. The investigation leading up to this point has been conducted by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.
The trial date has been set for May 2nd, and Padilla remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service while awaiting his day in court. This is a stark reminder that sexual exploitation, no matter the age of the victim, will not be tolerated and those who dare to cross this line face serious federal charges.
