Grimy Times has learned that Denico Anderson, a 23-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to 30 months of incarceration for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in Ohio County, West Virginia.
Anderson, also known as “Tone,” pleaded guilty in January 2021 to one count of “Distribution of Methamphetamine” after selling the illicit substance in September 2019.
According to court documents, Anderson’s involvement in the trafficking operation led to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shawn M. Adkins and Clayton J. Reid, who worked tirelessly to bring Anderson to justice.
The investigation into Anderson’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and several local law enforcement agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, West Virginia State Police, Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wheeling Police Department.
Additional assistance was provided by the U.S. Marshal Service, Columbus Police Department Gang Crimes Unit, Martins Ferry Police Department, and Bellaire Police Department.
U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the case, handing down the 30-month sentence to Anderson.
Anderson’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.
