Raymont Tyrone Dillard, Firearm Possession, Pennsylvania 2024

A convicted felon from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been slapped with federal charges for possessing a firearm and ammunition, the Department of Justice announced.

Raymont Tyrone Dillard, 36, of Pittsburgh, is facing a single count of violating federal firearms law, according to a one-count indictment handed down by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh.

The indictment alleges that on December 30, 2024, Dillard possessed a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, a direct violation of federal law.

Under federal law, Dillard faces a sentence of not less than 15 years and up to life in prison, along with a fine of up to $250,000, or both.

The law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation are the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

Assistant United States Attorney Mark V. Gurzo is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities.

Project Safe Neighborhoods brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.

An indictment is merely an accusation, and Dillard is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

The case is a stark example of the federal government’s commitment to enforcing laws aimed at reducing gun violence and keeping communities safe.
