Montgomery, Alabama: Charles Dean Partin, 38, from Clayton, Alabama, was convicted today in a federal court for his monstrous journey across states to sexually abuse a minor child. The U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, George L. Beck, Jr., announced the verdict.
This shocking case began when Partin molested the child at just eight years old. He fathered her child when she turned 14. DNA evidence sealed his fate. In September 2012, Partin took the now-15-year-old to Tennessee, where he ordered sexual acts and engaged in multiple encounters. His actions were witnessed by a campground maintenance worker, leading to an investigation and the child being placed under DHR custody.
Partin hatched a chilling plan: abducting the child and fleeing to Mexico. He stole a van, tracked her down during prenatal visits, and coerced her into leaving with him. They fled Alabama in the stolen vehicle, issuing an Amber Alert. The pair had several sexual encounters on their trip, but they never reached Mexico. Instead, Partin chose Ohio as his next destination.
Caught after an anonymous tip, Partin faced justice. He is now staring down a minimum ten-year sentence in federal prison, with fines up to $250,000 and five years of supervised release after his release. There is no parole in the federal system for such heinous crimes.
The investigation was led by the FBI with support from the Hamilton County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin Davidson, Jerusha Adams, and Hollie Worley prosecuted the case.
