Daniel Lewis Dolde, Possession of Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2013

PITTSBURGH – A shocking revelation in the world of cybercrime: Daniel Lewis Dolde, 43, a resident of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, was charged with possession of child pornography by a federal grand jury on April 24, 2013. According to the charges, Dolde had possessed videos and images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The one-count indictment unsealed today paints a grim picture of Dolde’s alleged activities. Prosecutors claim that he committed this heinous act on or about May 10, 2012. The severity of the offense is not lost on the legal system; the law provides for a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar will be leading the prosecution against Dolde. This case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations, highlighting the collaborative efforts to combat child sexual exploitation.

It’s important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation. Dolde is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at eradicating the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Department of Justice launched this project in May 2006 to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children and identify and rescue victims.
