Greenbelt, Maryland – In a shocking turn of events, Cornelius Maurice Jackson, 43, also known as “Buddy Love” and “Buddy,” was sentenced to 11 years in prison for conspiring to distribute and possess cocaine base in Maryland.
Jackson, a resident of Washington, D.C., was found guilty of his involvement in a cocaine trafficking scheme that spanned from September 12 to December 18, 2013. According to his plea agreement, he worked in conjunction with co-defendant Daniel Aubulah Fields, a/k/a “Squirt,” 44, of Forest Heights, Maryland.
Fields previously pleaded guilty to his participation in the drug trafficking conspiracy and was sentenced to eight years in prison. The investigation revealed that Jackson and Fields distributed cocaine base to a confidential source on four separate occasions, with Jackson traveling back to Maryland with the source and Fields to obtain the crack cocaine from a source in Hillcrest Heights.
On each of the three occasions, the confidential source handed over $2,600 to Fields for the individual purchases of approximately 58 grams of crack cocaine. On the fourth occasion, the source paid Fields $1,300 to purchase 27.3 grams of crack cocaine.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein praised the DEA, Metropolitan Police Department, and Prince George’s County Police Department for their work in the investigation. Rosenstein thanked Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kelly O. Hayes and Ray D. McKenzie, who prosecuted the case.
As part of his sentence, Judge Deborah K. Chasanow also ordered Jackson to forfeit $9,100.
Jackson’s sentence is a stark reminder of the severity of the consequences for those involved in cocaine trafficking. The case serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies in Maryland.
In addition to his prison time, Jackson will also serve four years of supervised release following his incarceration.
