Coty Layne Hayes, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Oklahoma 2024

A 26-year-old Konawa, Oklahoma, resident has been sentenced to 97 months in prison for the egregious crime of sexually abusing a minor.

Coty Layne Hayes, 26, was handed down the sentence by Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The crime, which occurred in Seminole County, within the boundaries of the Seminole Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, took place between June 9, 2023, and continuing until September 22, 2023.

Hayes pleaded guilty on September 19, 2024, to one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Indian Country. The child victim was more than four years younger than Hayes and had attained the age of 12 years but not yet attained the age of 16 years during the time of the abuse.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Morgan A. Muzljakovich represented the United States in the case.

Hayes will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.
