Counterfeit Cash Guilty Plea Lands Arkansas Man Behind Bars

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a shocking turn of events, 41-year-old Mark Brandon Weeks of Van Buren, Arkansas has pleaded guilty to possessing counterfeit US currency. Weeks, accused of being in possession of 70 counterfeit $100 Federal Reserve Notes, could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The investigation into Weeks’ activities was led by the Muskogee Police Department, the Sallisaw Police Department, and the United States Secret Service. According to court documents, Weeks was in possession of the counterfeit notes on August 10, 2015, with the intent to defraud.

The case against Weeks dates back to January 2016, when he was indicted on charges of possession of a counterfeit obligation. The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Hammer represented the United States in the case. Weeks will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
