BEAUMONT, Texas – Clifford Heniser, a 35-year-old Crockett resident, has pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
In an unsettling incident on March 15, 2025, Heniser entered the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, requesting ‘federal reports.’ A dispatcher’s request for patience led to a violent confrontation. Heniser, in a fit of anger, returned with a firearm and fired shots in the parking lot before being disarmed by law enforcement.
Heniser was indicted on April 2, 2025, for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, which is strictly prohibited under federal law. He faces up to 15 years in federal prison upon sentencing.
Investigations revealed that Heniser had previously been convicted and was therefore barred from owning or possessing firearms. The incident underscores the Department of Justice’s commitment to Operation Take Back America, a national effort to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities from violent crime.
This case has been coordinated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Houston County Sheriff’s Office; Crockett Police Department; and the Texas Department of Public Safety – Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald S. Carter is handling the prosecution.
The sentencing hearing will be scheduled following a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office, ensuring that Heniser’s sentence aligns with advisory guidelines and other statutory factors.
