A 42-year-old Crowley man is behind bars on $50,000 bond after being arrested on 15 felony counts of producing and possessing child pornography involving victims under 13. Shannon Robert Primeaux, of South Avenue D, was taken into custody June 26, 2024, following a targeted cyber probe.
The Louisiana Office of the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit led the arrest, acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Federal guidelines require such reports to be forwarded to local authorities when digital evidence points to a suspect’s location—this case triggered a rapid multi-agency response.
Primeaux was charged under LA RS 14:81.1, a state law criminalizing the creation, distribution, or possession of juvenile pornography, especially when the child is under 13. Each count is a felony carrying severe penalties, including mandatory registration as a sex offender and potential decades behind bars if convicted.
The investigation was a joint effort between Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. Authorities executed search warrants and seized electronic devices believed to contain illicit material, which are now undergoing forensic analysis.
Primeaux was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail, where he remains awaiting arraignment. Bail was set at $50,000.00, reflecting the seriousness of the charges. No additional suspects have been named, but officials warn the probe is active and expanding.
