Jackson, MS Man Sentenced for Brutal Prison Attack
Curtis Pixley, 39, of Washington, D.C., has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for his role in a vicious assault at a federal penitentiary in Yazoo City, Mississippi. On September 7, 2017, Pixley intentionally assaulted another prisoner, stabbing him repeatedly with a 9-inch shank.
According to authorities, Pixley retrieved the shank from his cell and walked to a table where prisoners were seated. As another prisoner stood up from the table, Pixley began stabbing the victim. The investigation into the crime was led by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Pixley was subsequently charged with intentionally assaulting another person and possessing a shank in prison. The maximum penalty for the first charge is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, while the maximum penalty for the second charge is 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Pixley entered a guilty plea on October 17, 2018 to a Criminal Information charging him with the crimes. His sentencing was handled by United States District Judge Daniel P. Jordan III.
