SHERMAN, Texas – The streets of Dallas have a new vacant throne as Deldrick Damond Lewis, 40, was found guilty in federal court for drug trafficking. The Eastern District of Texas jury didn’t flinch, convicting Lewis on August 6, 2025, of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Lewis wasn’t just any supplier; he was identified as a major player during an intensive investigation into Grayson County’s drug trade. The crown jewel in the prosecutors’ case was approximately 490 grams of pure meth found in his possession, a staggering amount that speaks volumes about Lewis’s operation.
The trial laid bare Lewis’s digital footprint, showcasing messages and posts from his social media accounts and cell phone records that painted a picture of a relentless drug dealer. The evidence was so overwhelming that it took the jury just three days to deliver a verdict.
At sentencing, which will be determined by the court based on guidelines and other factors, Lewis faces the harshest sentence Congress has provided: life in federal prison. A presentence investigation is underway at the U.S. Probation Office, which will precede his sentencing hearing.
This case was a joint effort of several law enforcement agencies, led by the FBI and bolstered by the Texoma Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Sherman Police Department, and the Dallas Police Department’s SWAT Team. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Maureen Smith and Stevan Buys prosecuted the case with tenacity.
For Lewis, the end of this trial marks the beginning of a long stretch behind bars. For the city of Dallas, it’s another win against drug trafficking that sends a clear message: no matter how deep you go, justice will find you.
