Danbury Prison Worker Guilty of Sex Abuse
Bridgeport, CT – In a shocking turn of events, Steven Wolff, a former Utilities Systems Repair Operator Foreman at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a ward.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Wolff, 45, of the Bronx, N.Y., engaged in sexual acts with one of the female inmates at the prison on multiple occasions between July 2011 and November 27, 2011.
The illicit activities took place in the boiler area of the prison facility, where Wolff would meet the victim privately and engage in sexual intercourse. In addition, Wolff provided contraband, including hair dye, candy, greeting cards, and over-the-counter medication to the inmate.
The case was investigated by the Office of the Inspector General and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anastasia E. King. Wolff faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 15 years and a fine of up to $250,000.
Wolff is scheduled to be sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Warren W. Eginton on October 29, 2013.
This disturbing case highlights the severe consequences of prison abuse and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
