A 37-year-old Scranton, Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for producing child pornography and attempted witness tampering, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
John Lewis Kramer was sentenced on February 23, 2022, to 360 months’ imprisonment by United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion.
The charges against Kramer stem from an investigation that began in March 2019, when the mother of a 14-year-old victim reported finding videos and pictures on Kramer’s phone of him engaging in sex with the minor victim.
Following a two-day bench trial, Judge Mannion found Kramer guilty of producing pornographic images of a child between March 1, 2019, and March 27, 2020, in Lackawanna County.
Additionally, Kramer was found guilty of attempted witness tampering after sending a threatening letter to the victim’s mother on January 22, 2021, stating that he would have her arrested.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Scranton Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuting the case.
