A federal court in Albany, New York, has witnessed a guilty plea from Daniel Quintero, a 38-year-old man from Schenectady, New York. Quintero has admitted to downloading and receiving hundreds of images and videos of child pornography between May 1, 2019, and March 2, 2022.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Albany Field Office, specifically the Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes members of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. These agencies include the Colonie Police Department, Rotterdam Police Department, and the New York State Police.
Assistant United States Attorney Allen J. Vickey is prosecuting this case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a program launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat child exploitation. Quintero’s actions are in direct violation of this program’s mission.
At sentencing, scheduled for September 26, 2023, Quintero faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison and could face a maximum fine of $250,000.
The FBI’s Albany Field Office, along with its partners in law enforcement, has worked tirelessly to bring Quintero to justice. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting children and holding those accountable who exploit them.
Quintero’s actions are a stark reminder of the prevalence of child pornography and the need for continued vigilance in combating this heinous crime. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
