A 25-year sentence has been handed down to Darius Stackhouse, a Mason City man convicted of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The sentencing occurred on October 1, 2025, following a March 12, 2025, jury verdict.
Stackhouse, 33, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, four counts of distribution of methamphetamine, and one count of possession of a firearm during and in furtherance of drug trafficking. The evidence presented at trial demonstrated that between June 2021 and March 2023, Stackhouse was involved in a drug conspiracy in Mason City.
During this time, Stackhouse sold more than 40 pounds of methamphetamine to various individuals. Additionally, he sold three pounds to sources working with law enforcement. A search of his residence revealed over $30,000 in cash, as well as additional methamphetamine, controlled substances, and a firearm.
United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand presided over the sentencing in Sioux City, Iowa. Stackhouse was sentenced to 300 months’ imprisonment, which is equivalent to 25 years. He will also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after completing his prison term. It is essential to note that there is no parole in the federal system.
Stackhouse is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was investigated by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Ron Timmons prosecuted the case.
