Local Man Sentenced to 110 Months in Prison for Selling Para-Fluorofentanyl
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A 55-year-old man from Fairmont, West Virginia has been sentenced to 110 months in federal prison for his role in selling para-fluorofentanyl in Marion and Harrison Counties.
Darrel Keith McHoney, 55, was found guilty of selling the highly addictive substance, along with heroin, to individuals in the area. Investigators searched his home and seized over 100 grams of para-fluorofentanyl, a loaded firearm magazine, and various drug paraphernalia.
McHoney’s criminal history is extensive, including a previous conviction for attempted robbery and drug trafficking. This latest conviction will see him serve 110 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Cogar prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, leading the investigation. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against the illicit drug trade in West Virginia. Law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those responsible for selling these deadly substances.
