**Grimy Times Exposé**
Darwin Antonio Castillo, a 36-year-old Honduran national, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for illegally reentering the United States.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Castillo was found in the country on October 2, 2016, despite having been officially deported and removed on October 27, 2016, following his conviction for illegal reentry of an alien in the Southern District of Texas.
Castillo pleaded guilty to a one-count Bill of Information for illegal reentry of a removed alien previously convicted of a felony. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman to 30 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release, a $20,000 fine, and a $100.00 special assessment.
Following completion of his sentence, Castillo will be surrendered to the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.
Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Enforcement, in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Irene González was in charge of the prosecution.
The sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violating U.S. immigration laws. Castillo’s actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the laws of this country and the rights of its citizens.
The Grimy Times will continue to investigate and report on stories like this, shedding light on the complex issues surrounding immigration and crime in our nation.
