DAVENPORT, IA – In a chilling case of online criminality, Jason Michael Mower, 43, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced to 80 months in federal prison for the receipt of child pornography. This pronouncement came from United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel, who also stated that Mower must serve eight years of supervised release following his release from prison.
The saga began in early 2015 when the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) initiated a sweeping investigation into an international online child pornography network. The probe zeroed in on Mower, revealing him to be an active member who accessed the sinister site multiple times. Over 60 images of child exploitation were found on his digital trail.
Mover’s Davenport abode was the scene of a tense search warrant execution, where authorities seized several electronic devices. A thorough forensic examination of these gadgets uncovered further evidence of Mower’s dark activities; he had accessed additional child pornography sites from October 2013 to February 2015. The grim discovery included images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The FBI was the lead agency in this investigation, which was a part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative aimed at protecting children from online exploitation. United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case with determination.
