David Mccann, Gun Trafficking, New York 2024

Four gun traffickers were arrested in Brooklyn, New York, and charged with selling over 50 firearms in the borough.

The defendants, David Mccann, Tajhai Jones, Raymond Minaya, and Calvin Tabron, were arrested on May 6, 2024, and unsealed indictment charges them with allegedly conspiring to illegally traffic more than 50 firearms in Brooklyn between January 2022 and August 2022.

According to the indictment, the defendants sold the firearms in broad daylight from vehicles in and around New York City Housing Authority’s Breukelen Houses, located across the street from a church and blocks away from a preschool and grade school in Canarsie, Brooklyn.

The indictment also alleges that two members of the gun-trafficking operation obtained the firearms in Virginia and then transported them to New York to be sold on the streets of Brooklyn. Some of the firearms had defaced serial numbers or were made from ghost gun kits, making them harder for law enforcement to trace.

David Mccann is also charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base, and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.

Breon Peace, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Keechant L. Sewell, Commissioner, New York City Police Department (NYPD) and Frank A. Tarentino, III, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division announced the charges.

The case is the first prosecution in New York to publicly charge the gun trafficking provisions of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
