A 47-year-old Maryland man, Marcus Devonta Williams, was sentenced to 5.8 years in prison for distributing massive quantities of cocaine in the Washington DC area. Williams was the local distributor in a large-scale trafficking conspiracy that funneled multi-kilogram quantities of the drug from New York into the DC metropolitan area.
According to court documents, Williams received multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine from co-defendant Daryl Smith-Winfree and distributed it to re-sellers and individual buyers throughout the region. Between February and April 2025, law enforcement made four controlled purchases of cocaine from Williams and documented meetings between Williams and Smith-Winfree in Wilmington, Delaware.
The FBI investigated the conspiracy, which operated in Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York, beginning in the summer of 2024. Williams pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine on February 4, 2026.
Williams was ordered to serve 5 years of supervised release and pay a $150,000 money judgment. Federal prosecutors had requested an 80-month prison term, but Williams received a 70-month sentence.
