A New York-based cocaine supplier has been sentenced for his role in a large-scale narcotics distribution conspiracy that smuggled multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine into the Washington metropolitan area.
Daryl Smith-Winfree, 44, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and received a 96-month prison sentence, in addition to five years of supervised release.
According to court documents, Smith-Winfree personally transported multi-kilogram quantities from New York to customers in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, including co-defendant Marcus DeVonta Williams, who then redistributed the cocaine throughout the region.
Law enforcement observed Smith-Winfree meet Williams in the parking lot of a shopping center in Wilmington, Delaware, and surveillance captured a second meeting between the two at a Walmart parking lot in Wilmington.
