Davenport Man Sentenced to 17 Years in Federal Prison for Firearms Charges
A Davenport man was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon and in furtherance of his drug trafficking. Deandre Julian Hensley, 30, had previously been arrested for outstanding warrants in July 2023, where he was found with a loaded nine-millimeter pistol in his waistband and approximately 7.5 grams of crack cocaine in his pocket.
According to public court documents, the firearm recovered from Hensley was the same firearm that he shot near a downtown Davenport bar earlier in July 2023. Two bystanders were injured in that shooting. Hensley’s actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the safety of his community, and it is only fitting that he faces severe consequences.
Hensley’s sentence also includes a four-year term of supervised release, which is a mandatory component of his punishment. There is no parole in the federal system, ensuring that Hensley will serve out his entire sentence.
The case against Hensley was investigated by the Davenport Police Department, who played a crucial role in bringing him to justice. Their tireless efforts in keeping our communities safe are to be commended.
