Spokane, Washington – Nine defendants, including Benjamin Theodore Stuckart and Mikki Pike Hatfield, are set to appear in federal court today after being indicted for their alleged roles in a violent protest near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Spokane. Charges against them range from conspiracy to impede or injure officers to assault on a federal officer.
According to the prosecution, Stuckart, 53, orchestrated a blockage of a bus transporting federal detainees by calling for support via social media. The defendants, including Justice Forral, 33, and Erin Nicole Lang, 31, were accused of releasing air from the bus tires and painting its windshield, rendering it unsafe to drive.
The indictment details how Forral, along with Hatfield, Collin James Muncey, 34, Thalia Marie Ramirez, 20, Bobbi Lee Silva, 38, Bajun Dhunjisha Mavalwalla II, 35, and Jac Dalitso Archer, 33, blocked the exit path of the bus and attempted to prevent federal officers from leaving the property. Silva is also accused of striking a federal officer from behind while attempting to clear a path.
Defendants Forral, Muncey, Hatfield, and others are further charged with placing objects in front of doors and exits, obstructing the exit of federal officers and detainees. Ramirez, armed with a boxcutter, is accused of slashing tires on a designated transport van for the detainees.
Acting United States Attorney Stephanie Van Marter emphasized that “the few who choose to cross the line from protest to violence and destruction will be held accountable.” The Spokane Police Department deployed crowd control measures after dispersal orders were ignored, including inert smoke and pepper balls. Hatfield is also alleged to have thrown an incendiary device in response.
The defendants now face serious charges that could result in significant prison sentences. Their first appearances in court are set for 3 P.M., where they will be formally arraigned on the charges against them.
