CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Dell Dingle, a 45-year-old inmate at the Federal Correction Institution Hazelton in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, has been sentenced to an additional 30 months of incarceration after admitting to assault and contraband charges, Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced.

Dingle pleaded guilty to one count of "Assault of a Correctional Officer Involving Physical Contact" and one count of "Possession of a Prohibited Object (Narcotic)" in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. The charges stem from an incident in May 2019, where Dingle attacked a federal correctional officer during the officer’s workday, and in October 2019, when he was found to be in possession of suboxone inside the prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher L. Bauer prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons conducting the investigation.

U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case, accepting Dingle’s guilty plea and issuing the sentence.
