A Detroit man has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation that distributed one to three kilograms of the deadly drug in Monongalia County, West Virginia.
Alonzo Travis, 28, of Detroit, Michigan, pled guilty in March 2021 to one count of "Aiding and Abetting Distribution of Heroin." Travis worked with another individual to distribute the heroin in March 2020 in Monongalia County, West Virginia.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office investigated.
The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case.
