HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Robert Lee Taylor, 44, of Huntington, was sentenced today to three years and five months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute heroin and violating supervised release.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on March 19, 2025, law enforcement officers obtained consent to search a Huntington residence where they discovered approximately 104 grams of heroin, three digital scales, and plastic bags for packaging the drug. Taylor admitted to possessing the seized heroin with intent to distribute it.
The day before the search, Taylor sold approximately 7 grams of heroin to a confidential informant for $491 on the back deck of his residence. During a subsequent search warrant at Taylor’s residence, officers seized approximately $8,661, which Taylor confessed was proceeds from the sale of heroin.
Taylor was already on supervised release after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia on May 1, 2023. His current sentence includes an additional eight months for committing a crime while on supervised release.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentence, commending the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West. United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, with Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney prosecuting the case.
