Joshua Andrew Guillot, Felon Firearms Possession, Louisiana 2023

BRUSSELS – Joshua Andrew Guillot, 30, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, has been hit with a guilty plea for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of an unregistered firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Brandon Fremin.

GUILLOT, who faced charges under Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1), and Title 26, United States Code, Section 5861(d), entered his plea today before U.S. District Judge Shelly D. Dick. A severe sentence, including a lengthy prison term and fines, awaits him at sentencing.

The charges stem from social media posts that caught the eye of a concerned citizen. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) acted swiftly, securing a federal search warrant based on the tip and GUILLOT’s criminal history, which included felony controlled substance offenses.

On October 23, 2017, the ATF, in collaboration with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, executed the warrant at GUILLOT’s residence. They seized 17 firearms, including high-capacity semi-automatic rifles, three silencers, and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition, among other items.

U.S. Attorney Fremin praised the citizen who reported the suspicious activity, stating, “These convictions highlight the crucial role citizens play in keeping firearms out of the hands of felons. We are deeply thankful for this individual’s vigilance and willingness to help protect our community.”

The investigation was a joint effort by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana, the Baton Rouge Office of ATF, and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorneys Elizabeth E. White and J. Brady Casey are leading the prosecution.
