Luis Rolando Clavijo Tacuri, a 32-year-old Ecuadorian national, has been indicted for unlawfully reentering the United States after being deported. Tacuri, who was residing in Milford, Massachusetts, was previously deported in December 2016 after being arrested for operating under the influence. He was arrested again in May 2024 for the same offense, and now faces up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Tacuri’s history of operating under the influence dates back to at least 2015, when he was first encountered by immigration officials while incarcerated in Holliston, Massachusetts. He was subsequently placed into removal proceedings and deported to Ecuador. However, it is alleged that Tacuri illegally reentered the United States, leading to his latest arrest and indictment.
The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien is a serious offense, and Tacuri’s case highlights the ongoing issue of illegal reentry into the United States. The US Attorney’s Office, along with Homeland Security Investigations and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is working to prosecute individuals who illegally reenter the country.
Tacuri’s indictment is the result of a federal grand jury investigation, and he is currently being held in federal custody. His case will be prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Brendan O’Shea of the Worcester Branch Office.
