WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA

A 30-year-old man from New Martinsville, West Virginia, has been sentenced for a heroin charge, according to United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld.

Derrick Adams was sentenced to 77 months of incarceration for ‘Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Heroin’ on June 2019 in Wetzel County.

Adams, 30, pled guilty in November 2020 to the charge.

The West Virginia State Police investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins prosecuted it on behalf of the government.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the case.

The heroin sale on June 2019 landed Adams in hot water with the law, and he will now face the consequences of his actions.

Adams’ sentence serves as a reminder of the severe penalties for those involved in the distribution of heroin.
