Tyrone Nix, 22, Charged for Counterfeit Debit Card Scheme

A 22-year-old Detroit man has been charged with using counterfeit debit cards in the Northern District of Ohio.

According to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, a criminal information has been filed charging Tyrone Nix with illegally possessing and using counterfeit debit cards.

Assistant United States Attorney Thomas A. Karol is handling the case, with the United States Secret Service serving as the investigating agency.

If convicted, Nix’s sentence will be determined by the Court after reviewing factors such as his prior criminal record, role in the offense, and characteristics of the violation.

The sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases will be less than the maximum.

Nix is currently facing charges, but an information is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Nix, a resident of Detroit, will face the consequences of his alleged actions in the Northern District of Ohio.
