Baltimore, Maryland – A member of the notorious Murdaland Mafia Piru (MMP) bloods gang, Devon Dent, 28, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for racketeering and drug conspiracies. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake.
Dent’s criminal activities included distributing crack cocaine for the MMP and being present during a shooting that left a victim critically injured outside a Baltimore nightclub. According to court documents, Dent admitted to his gang membership and involvement in violent acts.
The Murdaland Mafia Piru, also known as the ‘Mob’ or ‘Mobsters,’ is a subset of the Bloods gang operating in Maryland. The gang has long controlled drug trade in several neighborhoods, including Forest Park, Windsor Mill, Gwynn Oak, and more. Dent was involved with MMP’s lucrative operations and was shown on surveillance video at Club Mirage with other gang members.
On November 4, 2012, Dent possessed heroin and crack cocaine with intent to distribute, and in 2015, he distributed crack cocaine to an undercover officer. The paperwork seized from Dent detailed MMP’s rules and the severity of punishment for cooperation with law enforcement.
This case was a success for the ATF’s National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), which helped identify Dent’s involvement in violent crimes involving firearms.
Twenty-five defendants have been convicted in this case, including five who were found guilty by a federal jury after a six-week trial.
