A Tulare County man is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison after being charged with receiving child pornography, federal authorities said.
Boyce Isaiah Cervantez, 27, of Dinuba, was indicted on April 25, 2024, by a federal grand jury and arrested on May 17, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.
The indictment alleges that Cervantez received at least one visual depiction of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct between March 1, 2024, and March 16, 2024.
The case is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dinuba Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany M. Gunter is prosecuting the case.
If convicted, Cervantez faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. However, any sentence would be determined by the court after considering applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The charges are only allegations, and Cervantez is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
