Diostene Pimental Pleads Guilty to Unlawful Reentry

BOSTON – In a disturbing case of illegal re-entry, Diostene Pimental, a 42-year-old Dominican national, has pleaded guilty to unlawfully re-entering the United States after being deported.

Pimental, who formerly resided in Boston, was removed in November 2012 and subsequently re-entered the US without permission. According to the indictment, Pimental was deported after being convicted of an aggravated felony.

U.S. Senior District Court Judge Mark L. Wolf scheduled sentencing for December 9, 2019. Pimental faces a sentence of no greater than 20 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Pimental will be subject to deportation proceedings.

The indictment details Pimental’s egregious actions, which demonstrate a blatant disregard for the law. By re-entering the US without permission, Pimental put himself and others at risk, highlighting the importance of secure borders and immigration laws.
